ATI-TEAS V Overview
The TEAS comprises questions from four core competencies, which are concepts encompassing high school-level (up to 12th grade) achievement material. It is each student’s responsibility to ensure they have met the competencies before taking the exam. Compiled from the Assessment Technologies Institute.

- Both computer- and paper-based
- Hawaiʻi ONLY has computer-based
- Must register twice:
- 1. ATI Testing Website
- 2. Specific testing institution (see table below)
- Remember the username and password
- Bring a picture ID and registration receipt to the testing site
ATI-TEAS Proctoring Options:
- ATI at Home
- Remote proctoring service at an institution
- In-person proctoring at an institution
- In-person proctoring at a PSI location
Note: Kapi’olani Community College offers walk-in periods during which students can take the TEAS V exam.
The highest score will be used if the exam is taken more than once and after the appropriate cooldown.
Most testing sites have a NO REFUND POLICY. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

There is no break provided when taking this exam.
Scoring
- Composite scores for each the four weighed areas
- 13 sub-scores assess specific content comprehension
- Receive comprehensive score reports to detail individual performance
- Students do not “pass” or “fail” the TEAS V exam
- Minimum score requirements are set by the admissions offices of individual nursing programs
- Students should verify the minimum percent requirements at their desired schools before submitting their TEAS V transcript
- Computer-Based Testing: Immediately after test completion
- Paper-Based Testing: Vary by testing site
- Depending on how long it takes the institution to send exams to ATI (once there, exams are scored within 48 hours)
- Scores will be automatically sent to the institution where the test was administered, at no cost to the student
- TEAS V results can be sent to additional schools at a cost of $25.00 per score report.

Test dates vary by testing center. Always check for updates and register early for exam dates. Seats fill up quickly!
*KCC now requires that the TEAS be taken at a testing site and is no longer offered remotely.

✓ Learn as much as you can about the exam
✓ Study material covered in the exam. Ways can include:
- Reviewing courses you took
- Studying textbooks and materials
- Taking preparatory courses and/or tutoring offered by private companies (e.g., Kaplan and Princeton Review for the MCAT)
✓ Start preparing for the exams well in advance
- A year is none too soon - but pace yourself!
- Find a balance between preparing thoroughly, but not burning yourself out
✓ Take practice exams under realistic, timed conditions
✓ Review the results of your practice exam to identify areas in which you need improvement
- Spend more time reviewing material in these areas
- Identify tactical errors you may have made
- Begin to develop strategies for answering each type of question
✓ Take time just before the exam to relax
- Get a good night's sleep
- Eat a good nutritious breakfast
✓ Scope out the exam location prior to your test day
✓ Do your best the first time to save yourself additional time, money, and energy!
