The Dean’s Certificate of Distinction in One Health was awarded to five graduating medical students at the JABSOM Awards Ceremony on May 13, 2025. Earning the inaugural MD program’s One Health certificate were Sameer Kejriwal, ZoeAnn Kon, Carly Kida, Josh Kepler, and Kelli Kokame. Unique experiences shared by certificate recipients included a 4th year clinical elective at the Honolulu Zoo supervised by lead zoo veterinarian Dr. Jill Yoshicedo, and a One Health Conference organized by MD1-4 members of the One Health Interest Group that brought together diverse experts to address global health challenges including zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and environmental health threats. Certificate students participated in a variety of One Health related courses and outreach activities throughout their four years of medical school and coauthored a paper on the JABSOM One Health Curriculum published in the Hawai‘i Journal of Health and Social Welfare (PMID: 39131832).
