The Joint Healthcare Opportunities Conference (JHOC) went virtual on Saturday, April 17th, 2021. Thirty middle and high school students were presented with a video scenario in which people may catch COVID-19 and went through different breakout sessions led by various healthcare departments that help patients with the infectious disease. Presentations and workshops were led by the departments, programs, and colleges from the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa (UHM). Presented by the Hawaii/Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center at JABSOM, workshop partners at the event included the JABSOM Department of Tropical Medicine, Medical Microbiology and Pharmacology; the JABSOM Department of Medical Technology, the UHM Office of Public Health Studies; and the UH Hilo Daniel K. Inouye School of Pharmacy.
