Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) software is an essential tool for visualizing canonical pathways, upstream and downstream regulators and signaling networks. IPA relies on its knowledgebase which utilizes over 100,000 publications, their associated data and analyses to develop disease based biological pathways. Several studies have published data using IPA to study gene expression in Kawasaki Disease (KD) patients. There are currently 13 data analyses completed using 5 different gene expression datasets publicly available for reference within the IPA software. Nine of the analyses compare the sensitivity and resistance to intravenous immunoglobulin therapy and other potential therapeutic targets. Three analyses compare KD patients to healthy controls. The last analysis compares the acute and convalescent phases of KD. While these studies provide insight into the effectiveness of therapeutics, the progression of KD from the acute to convalescent phase and formation of coronary artery lesions remains an enigma.
