Yukie Lloyd, Ph.D.

Infectious Disease Surveillance Expert
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

 

Dr. Yukie Lloyd is a 2018 graduate of the Tropical Medicine PhD Program who is pursuing a career in global health and international development. Dr. Lloyd’s PhD research provided her with an opportunity to conduct field research in malaria immunology at the University of Yaoundé in Cameroon. After completing her PhD training, Dr. Lloyd accepted a position with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as Project Formulation Advisor in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 2019-2021. Starting in October 2021, Dr. Lloyd will begin an appointment as Expert in Infectious Disease Surveillance for JICA in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. In this seminar Dr. Lloyd will discuss her experiences and achievements as a graduate student, the career decisions that led her to her current work with JICA, and future projects and opportunities for collaboration with the Department of Tropical Medicine, Medical Microbiology, and Pharmacology at John A. Burns School of Medicine.
