Biographical Narrative
Jing Guo is an Associate Professor in the Thompson School of Social Work & Public Health at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She received her PhD in social welfare from the University of California, Berkeley and MA in social welfare from the Peking University, China. Dr. Guo’s research centers on 1) comparative family policy, in relation to work-family balance, gender equality and child development; 2) population migration, acculturation and child wellbeing, particularly focusing on Asian Americans; and 3) social policy and social services in China. Dr. Guo serves as the PhD program Chair and the policy sequence Chair for the BSW and MSW programs. She has taught social policy, history, theory, and research courses across BSW, MSW and PhD programs in the MBT SSW. Dr. Guo also leads the Department of Social Work international initiatives in China. She has been appointed to the CSWE Council on Global learning and Practice (2017-2020).
