About Us
Looking to shoot baskets or play a pick up game of volleyball? Informal recreation might just be for you.
Informal Recreation or “Open Play” is committed to providing a spectrum of involvement opportunities and learning experiences for students through innovative recreational activities and services. By learning through out of the classroom experiences, we serve to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and a healthy and balanced lifestyle while enhancing student life.
With locations in the Warrior Recreation Center and other lower campus facilities, Informal recreation provides a number of non-formal, open play sports activities including:
- Basketball (WRC)
- Volleyball (WRC)
- Badminton (Klum Gym – Lower Campus)
- Pickleball (Klum Gym – Lower Campus)
- Free Swim (DKAC – Lower Campus)
Only UH Manoa students who have paid their student-fees may participate in Informal Recreation programming with no additional fees (unless otherwise noted).

Refund Policy
Change your mind? Schedule conflict? We offer refunds on the following conditions:
- Refunds or transfers are permitted up to the last working day before the class starts. Refunds generally take 4-6 weeks to process and mail out.
- Transfers will be honored for the session which you are registered. Only one transfer within a session will be allowed and it must be the same type of class.
- A $5.00 fee will be assessed for each course withdrawal. the fee will be deducted from the final amount.
- NO REFUND WILL BE PROCESSED WITHOUT A RECEIPT. If payment was made by check, refund will be processed after the check has cleared, three weeks for local checks, five weeks for out-of-state checks. Credit card refunds will be credited back to the account within a week.
- There will be a $15.00 fee + $0.10 per month interest charge for all return.
** For any and all credit card refunds, please double check to make sure that the card number matches with the same card used for the original transaction.
