Peter Vitousek is Clifford G. Morrison Professor of Population and Resource Studies, Professor of Earth System Science, and Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment at Stanford University. Vitousek was born in Hawaiʻi and received his Ph.D. in biology from Dartmouth College. He is known most for his work on the nitrogen cycle.
