Maxine Burkett

Maxine Burkett is a professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law and a specialist in climate law and policy. She served as inaugural director of the Center for Island Climate Adaptation and Policy, and she co-founded the Institute for Climate and Peace. An alumna of Williams and UC Berkeley, she clerked for U.S. District Judge Susan Illston, and she served as a White House intern and Omidyar fellow. In 2021, she was appointed as Senior Advisor to Presidential Climate Envoy John Kerry.
