David Lassner

David Lassner is president of the University of Hawaiʻi. He leads the ten-campus UH system, as well as Hawaiʻi’s flagship research university, UH Mānoa. Lassner is interested in strengthening the state’s economy by helping more residents earn college credentials, as well as advancing UH’s commitments to sustainability and becoming a model Indigenous-serving university. Lassner earned an AB in economics and an MS in computer science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his PhD in communication and information sciences at UH Mānoa.
