Courses Taught
Dr. Katherine “Kat” Yang received her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Born and raised in Hilo, Hawai‘i, her upbringing instilled a deep sense of responsibility towards her community and dedication to serving others. She is passionate about researching mental health issues among Native Hawaiian adolescents and teaching epidemiology alongside other public health disciplines. Her teaching philosophy is built on the pillars of communication, collaboration, and critical thinking – skills that are crucial in academic, research, and workforce contexts. She believes that education is paramount, and she is committed to preparing future public health practitioners with the comprehensive knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
