Simi works within the Motivation For Change (M4C) Substance Use and Prevention Research Lab where she oversees fatal drug overdose surveillance in the state of Hawai’i as part of the CDC Overdose Data to Action in States (OD2A-S) Project. Her public health background includes prior work in state and local health departments, COVID-19 care coordination, and capacity building through training coordination with the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Her research interests include examining fatal overdose trends in Hawaii and substance use patterns among older adults.
