Dr. Derek Johnson is an infectious disease epidemiologist whose work primarily focuses on infectious diseases in LMICs. He earned his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has worked for over 10 years conducting research in resource-limited settings. His research spans multiple regions, and he has collaborated with academic institutions and NGOs in Uganda, Sudan, Malawi, Myanmar, India, Mexico, and Honduras. Dr. Johnson’s research primarily focuses on STIs, with a particular emphasis on antibiotic resistance. His current work explores the alarming rise of antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea, a growing global health concern.
