Dr. Katz retired from Office of Public Health Studies in 2022 after 34 years on the faculty at UH Mānoa. Prior to his faculty appointment, Dr. Katz served as the medical director of a federally qualified health center on O‘ahu and Director of the Hawai‘i State Department of Health’s STD/AIDS Prevention Program. He is currently a staff physician and laboratory director at the Hawai‘i State Department of Health’s Diamond Head STD Clinic. He was appointed by Governor Abercrombie to the Hawai‘i Board of Health 2012-2016, and has served as a consultant to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on multidrug-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
