Prior to his faculty appointment at UH, Dr. Katz served as the medical director of a federally qualified health center on Oahu and Director of the Hawai‘i State Department of Health’s STD/AIDS Prevention Program.  He is currently a staff physician and laboratory director at the Hawai‘i State Department of Health's Diamond Head STD Clinic. He was appointed by Governor Abercrombie to the Hawai‘i Board of Health 2012-2016, and has served as a consultant to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on multidrug -resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae.  Dr. Katz’s research interests include sexually transmitted diseases and leptospirosis.
