Dr. Verne de la Peña, Visiting Distinguished Professor, will join the Department of Music in Spring 2026

CPS welcomes Dr. Verne de la Peña, the first recipient of the Trimillos Visiting Distinguished Professorship in Ethnomusicology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Dr de la Peña is a Professorial Lecturer at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. He will be in residence for the Spring 2026 semester in the Ethnomusicology Program at UHM. The Professorship specifically brings ethnomusicologists from outside the United States to enrich the Hawaiʻi program by representing different perspectives from the field. More details will be announced as they develop. In Spring 2024, Dr. de la Peña visited CPS as a guest lecturer to discuss Philippine music.
