Dr. Belinda A. Aquino, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and founding director of the Center for Philippine Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, is widely recognized as a pioneering authority in Philippine history, politics, and society. Through her visionary leadership, she established the Center as a hub for interdisciplinary research, academic exchange, and cross-cultural dialogue on the Philippines. Her scholarship, spanning topics from governance and democratization to cultural identity, has inspired generations of students and scholars worldwide. Dr. Aquino’s enduring legacy lies in her commitment to advancing Philippine studies globally, fostering deeper understanding and appreciation of the nation’s rich heritage.
