Kadaugan sa Mactan Reenactment: Performing History and the April 27, 1521 Battle of Mactan, a Memory of Resistance, by Emmanuel Jones Mante

Join us for an exciting lecture on Kadaugan sa Mactan (The Victorious Battle at Mactan) by Emmanuel Jones Mante, an MFA student in Theatre and Arts (Directing), recipient of the Corky Trinidad Endowment Scholarship, who will give a talk and reenactment of the 1521 Battle of Mactan.

The lecture is a descriptive study and analysis of the Kadaugan sa Mactan reenactment of the year 2019. This event features the first victory against foreign intruders by a local chief, Rajah Lapulapu. In that battle, the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, then representing Spain, was killed on April 27, 1951.
