Lecture – Being of two places: Evolving views towards “Japan” through the lens of Philippine Nikkeijin from Baguio City, by Haruka Wei Waseda

Join us in this presentation on the Philippine Nikkeijin, Japanese nationals who migrated abroad or their descendants. Haruka Waseda, a graduate student in Asian Studies and recipient of the Corky Trinidad Endowment Scholarship, will report on her fieldwork in Baguio City. The lecture will present answers to these questions: Why do different Philippine Nikkeijin from Baguio City develop different viewes towards Japan?” “What factors shape their perspectives, and how do they influence the mobility of Philippine Nikkeijin?”
