Center for Okinawan Studies sponsored the Worldwide Uchinanchu Business Network (WUB) Hawaii Chapter’s Event, “The Taste of Okinawa,” which was held at the Pagoda Hotel. This event aimed to introduce Okinawan food. 10 restaurants served their Okinawan food Taste menu, and 26 Okinawan-owned restaurants and UH institutions sponsored and became vendors. Also, while the tasting menus were served at the first hotel, there were Okinawan music performances on the second floor of the Pagoda Hotel. The audience enjoyed classical Ryukyuan Dance and recent Okinawan music, such as Asadoya Yunta, Nada Sousou, etc. This event was a good opportunity for the Hawaii Okinawan community to learn about both Okinawan food and music.
