Step 3: Utilize the Implementation Guide
Becoming a Native Hawaiian Place of Learning
Implementation Guide Introduction
While you have been engaging core principles in Step 1 and reading the UH NH reports in Step 2, we recognize that implementing those principles and recommendations into various areas of your work might still need support. Therefore, we are creating the following guides below in some of the areas we have heard you ask about. As always, feel free to message us at nhpol@hawaii.edu should you need further support.
Implementation Guides
We believe that it is always important to do this work as a hui (a group, a collective). Whether you are planning a new program, creating a budget, establishing a position, or any other work to help UH Mānoa become a NH place of learning, doing that work collectively is important. In fact, doing it collectively in an intergenerational way is in and of itself contributing towards UHM becoming a NH place of learning.
Below are questions that we offer that reflect each of the four NH core principles. These questions are meant to guide your implementation of those core principles as you establish and engage your hui.
We created the following guide to support your efforts to align your FTE requests with the NH place of learning section of the UHM Performance Indicators for Prioritization.
