No kēia mahina ʻo Kāloakūkahi kākou e heluhelu aʻe ana i kēia ʻōlelo noʻeau: 

He pō Kāloa kēia, ua eʻe pūpū. 
This is the night of Kāloa, for the shellfish climbs.
The nights of Kāloa, when the shellfish climb onto the wet stones, are good for shellfish hunting. —ʻŌlelo Noʻeau #907

Ua ʻike anei ʻoe i ua eʻe ʻana nei o nā pūpū? Inā e kamaʻāina kākou me ke kaulana mahina, inā ua hoʻopili ʻia ka ʻike kūpuna a me ka hana a kēia manawa. 

English Description: 
For today’s moon Kāloakūkahi we will be reading this ʻōlelo noʻeau. Have you ever seen this aforementioned climbing of the shellfish? If we are intimately familiar with the traditions of the lunar calendar, then we can strengthen the relationship between ancestral knowledge and the things we do in our lives today.
