The William S. Richardson School of Law announces the inaugural Joint Symposium on Asian Law, cosponsored by the Law School and the University of Sydney Law School. The event will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16, on the Manoa Campus.

Five Australian scholars will participate in the symposium, along with one scholar from the University of British Columbia and three scholars from Seoul National University. The symposium will highlight the Law School’s expertise in Asian and Pacific law and collaborative projects with the participating law schools. The event will bring Asian law experts from Australia, Canada and Korea.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity for us to collaborate with our Sydney colleagues, with whom we share many important areas of expertise, including Asian and environmental law.” said,  said Alison Conner, who initiated the project and served as its coordinator.

Dean Avi Soifer added: “It is a great treat to be able to bring these first-rate scholars together. Professor Conner and her colleagues in Sydney, along with others in Vancouver and Seoul, have provided an important cooperative event for our University community."

The next joint symposium will be held in Sydney in 2012.
