University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Athletic Director Kathleen McNally today announced that Hugh Yoshida, former athletic director at UH Manoa, has accepted the invitation of UH Hilo to consult for the Vulcan athletics program until the end of the year.

Yoshida, a lifelong leader in Hawaiʻi athletics, will assist the Vulcan athletic program by giving ideas and advice on a wide range of areas including strategic planning, Title IX equity implementation, building community relations, and advancing fundraising.

McNally stated, "In a period of rapid change and scarce resources, I have sought the assistance of the expert to share his wisdom from a lifetime of successful experience in athletic leadership."

Yoshida responded, "I am looking forward to helping Vulcan athletics and I'm pleased to have been invited to serve as a resource during this exciting and challenging time for the UH Hilo Athletics program."

UH Hilo Chancellor Rose Tseng warmly welcomed Yoshida's assistance. "Hugh is a giant in the field of collegiate athletics," she said. "We welcome his advice and counsel and thank him for giving generously of his time and expertise."
