UH Law School associate dean and alumni judge to be honored by Hawaii Women Lawyers

HONOLULU — The William S. Richardson School of Law announces that Carol Mon Lee, retired associate dean, and the Honorable Sabrina S. McKenna, a 1982 graduate, will be recognized by the Hawaiʻi Women Lawyers at their 2006 Annual Awards Reception on Friday, April 13, 2007. Lee will receive the Distinguished Service Award and Judge McKenna will receive the Outstanding Judicial Achievement Award.

"We are especially proud of these two women leaders who serve as excellent role models for public service to our students and our community," said Law School Dean Avi Soifer.

Lee moved to Hawaiʻi in 1976 and became one of the first female professors of law at the School of Law. Later, after a tenure in private practice, including serving as one of the core members of the Hawaiʻi Women Lawyers, she returned to the Law School to serve as its associate dean in 1996 until she retired in December 2006.

McKenna has served as a judge for the First Circuit Court and District Court, State of Hawaiʻi, for 11 years. Prior to her judicial appointment, Judge McKenna served as an assistant professor of law at the Law School, as general counsel to a top 50 Hawaiʻi corporation, and as an attorney in the private sector.
