Lei making, gardening and grinds: Keiki, community invited to free summer programs
University of Hawaiʻi at MānoaThe University of Hawai‘i 4-H Military Partnership welcomes children and families to learn about local agriculture and Hawaiʻi’s culture at free events this summer. While priority will be given to young people and families connected to the military, the events are open to all families at no cost.
Hawaiʻi 4-H, part of UH Mānoa’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience, has empowered more than 500,000 youth through hands-on learning rooted in agriculture and cultural education.
4-H Garden SEED Camp at the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City
(June 16–20)
- For keiki who have completed grades K–2, the weeklong SEED Camp features seed dissections, garden planting, exciting cooking projects and more.
- Campers will explore the wonders of growing their own food, from seed planting to a healthy and delicious meal.

Military ʻOhana Day: Lei Making Workshop in Waimānalo (June 28)
- Families are invited to gather plumeria blossoms and learn the traditional art of kui (stringing) lei.
- This hands-on workshop explores the rich cultural and historical significance of lei-making, celebrating tradition, fostering connection and embracing aloha.

Camp Kau Kau: 4-H Culinary Camp at UH Mānoa (July 21–25)
- Hands-on exploration of Hawai‘i’s rich culinary traditions and the bounty of local food crops.
- Learn about Hawai‘i's diverse food heritage and inspire a love for healthy, local ingredients.
