UH Manoa School of Nursing announces its accelerated nursing program

School seeks individuals interested in nursing as a career change

HONOLULU — The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene is pleased to announce that they will be offering an accelerated "Fast-Track" program enabling students to complete a bachelor‘s degree in nursing within 18 months.

The accelerated curriculum is for individuals with a prior bachelor‘s degree in any field who are interested in professional nursing as a career change. Upon successful completion of the program, a student will receive a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing and be eligible for the RN licensure exam.

The program begins on June 12, 2006 with completion in mid December 2007. To help support the student‘s success in the program, it is important to have taken the pre-requisite courses listed below.

Prerequisite Courses:
1 year Chemistry (Chem 151 & 152)
1 year Anatomy & Physiology (Phyl 141/Lab & Phyl 142/Lab)
Microbiology & Lab (Micro 130 & 140Lab)
Pharmacology (Pharm 203)
Nutrition (FSHN 475)
Statistics
English 100
2 Social Science courses (6 credits)
HAP (Hawaiian, Asian & Pacific Issues course) (2-3 credits)

This program is an endeavor to improve the health of Hawaiʻi‘s people and to address the nursing shortage in the State of Hawaiʻi. Application deadline is March 1, 2006.
