The UH Mānoa Music Department welcomes Dr. Adam Kehl, Marching Band Director Designate

The Music Department of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is very excited to announce that Dr. Adam Kehl will be joining our faculty this fall as our Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Rainbow Warrior Marching Band.

Dr. Kehl joins us from his position at Elon University, where for four years he has served as Director of Bands, overseeing all aspects of the band program; leading the wind ensemble, marching band and basketball band; and teaching courses in music education. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Kehl holds Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from the University of Oregon, a Master of Music in conducting from the University of New Mexico, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in conducting from the University of South Carolina.  Prior to graduate studies, he served five years as Director of Bands at John W. Adam is a passionate fan of marching band and athletic bands, and is excited to be coming to Hawaii and working with our storied program. “I am thrilled to be joining the outstanding band program at the University of Hawai’i,” says Adam. “It is an honor to be chosen to lead the Rainbow Warrior Marching Band, an ensemble with a deep, passionate history and a rich tradition of excellence. I am excited to get to know and work with the wonderful, spirited, and dedicated students and staff at UH, and look forward to becoming a part of the state’s band family. My wife and I can’t wait to get to Hawai’i, and I could not be more excited for the upcoming school year! GO ‘BOWS!!”
