Paul Gabriel Cosme was named a finalist for the 2025 Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival Choral Composition Competition with his composition, “When I Sing to Myself, Who Listens?.” Cosme is a composer and scholar of Filipino music. He is a graduate of Macalester College and is now a PhD student in composition at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa.
The Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival (AOVICF), held biennially, is named after the late National Artist for Music, Professor Andrea O. Veneracion, the founding choirmaster of the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers. An esteemed choirmaster and choral clinician, Professor Veneracion played a pivotal role in the development of choral music across the Philippines. AOVICF is jointly organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines through its Artist Training Division under the CCP Arts Education Department and the Philippine Madrigal Singers.
