Hear the gamelan music of Central Java as the UH Javanese Gamelan
Ensemble performs their fall semester concert at the Music Department’s
Barbara Smith Amphitheater.
The concert will include music from both the Yogyakarta and Surakarta
gamelan traditions, plus two selections in remembrance of founding director
Hardja Susilo’s 90th birthday.
The UH Gamelan Ensemble, now directed by Byron Moon, is made up of both
students and community members. It has been active since 1970.
Cushions are allowed for this outdoor concert, but no tall chairs.
