Three for One
Aesthetics of Korea: Picturing the Future through Tradition

Among the various Korean traditional musical cultures, pansori is the highlight of the vocal genres and sinawi and sanjo are the pinnacle of the instrumental genres. Professional musicians from Jeonju, Republic of Korea, which is the hometown of traditional culture, present instrumental performances including sanjo, sinawi, and Jindo ssitgimgu.

This performance features Jung Mi Seo on the daeguem (a large transverse bamboo flute), Hye Jeong Jang on the ajaeng (a bowed zither), Eun Sun Baek on the gayageum (a 12-stringed zither) and Jin Hee Park on the janggu (an hour-glass shaped drum). They invite the audience to a memorable performance utilizing the harmonization of diverse melodies.
