E Hīmeni Kākou is an annual festival that gathers college & university choirs from around the state for a series of clinics, rehearsals, and a mass choir performance led by a guest clinician. This year’s guest clinician, Mr. Tesfa Wondemagegnehu, comes from Minnesota and is the conductor of the American Public Media (APM) Radio Choir, and Manager of the Choral Works Initiative for APM. In addition to his leading of the mass festival choir in the finale, each individual school will offer a small taste of their own repertoire under the direction of each school’s conductor. The UHChoirs will present a sampling of pieces being prepared for their spring concerts.
E Hīmeni Kākou has been presented since 1975 (since 1989 as E Hīmeni Kākou) by the Hawai‘i Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association and with the generous support of Central Union Church.
