Lecturer in Music, Bassoon
Bassoonist Paul Barrett joined the UH Mānoa faculty in 1978 the year after he was selected Principal Bassoonist in the Honolulu Symphony, now Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra (HSO).
Paul studied at Interlochen Arts Academy, the Eastman School of Music, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. His teachers include K. David van Hoeson, Gerald Corey, George Goslee, Norman Herzberg, and Leonard Sharrow.
In addition to teaching at Mānoa and playing in the HSO, Paul previously played in the Louisville Symphony. He’s also attended Tanglewood, Aspen Music Festival, Blossom Festival School, Kapalua Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West.
