John Gallagher

Lecturer in Music, Double Bass

John Gallagher has been a member of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra Double Bass section since 1997. Currently he is Acting Associate Principal. He has also performed with the Hawaii Opera Theatre. Formerly, John was a member of the Minnesota Opera and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Puerto Rico. John teaches the Double Bass at Iolani School and the University of Hawaii. John attended the Manhattan School of Music and his main teachers were David Walter and Eugene Levinson. He also enjoys playing Gospel music on electric bass at the Pacific Revival Center.
