James Bradley Thompson
James Thompson began playing Piano at the age of six and was born and raised on Maui, Hawaii. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school, James was given the opportunity to learn under Oberlin graduate Ruth Murata-Eisen for twelve years, and had the opportunity to perform a concerto for the Maui Pops Orchestra, as well as masterclasses under professional pianists such as Jerry Kuderna and Van Cliburn winner Haochen Zhang.
After high school, James took his undergraduate studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor’s of Music Performance under Dr. Thomas Yee, and is now pursuing a Master’s in the same degree. James serves as the graduate assistant for the piano area. His duties involve teaching class piano as well as providing accompaniment for the music department choirs on behalf of the university.
