Overview:

The WHU MBA European Summer Program offers two sessions of a two-week course on “The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe” for MBA students of WHU’s partner universities. The program is an alternative to an exchange semester and offers a targeted and compact insight on international business in Europe. The program is offered in two separate sessions, both of which typically start toward the beginning/middle of May and end by the end of May. Academic Details:

The course takes place on the campus of the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, located just outside of Koblenz in the Valley of the Rhine River.

Both two-week programs offer a three credit-hour class focusing on the following topics:

  • European Integration: The Single European Market of the EU and European Monetary Union
  • Doing Business in Eastern Europe
  • Restructuring Companies in Transition Economies
  • Innovation Strategies of European Companies
  • European Marketing
  • The Environment of Mergers and Acquisitions: European Competition Policies
  • European Financial Markets The course is designed for MBA students interested in International Business, Finance and Corporate Strategy.

The language of instruction is English. The program comprises 48 academic hours (equivalent to three credits of a 14-week term) plus around 22 contact hours in a cultural program (equivalent to two credits of a 14-week term). Housing Details:

Since Vallendar is a relatively rural community, and not all landlords speak a foreign language, WHU offers international students extra support in finding accommodation.

Guest students can opt for a private apartment or an apartment on Campus Krautkrämer at the Humboldthöhe or at the apartment house in Höhrer Straße and in the new house at Goethestraße (SmartFlats Goethestraße) or  in the recently renovated houses “Heerstraße“, Löhrstraße. or Krummgasse/Eulerstraße . Please indicate your preferences within the online, application under “Housing”. Please note that housing will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Approximately 8 weeks before the start of the semester, you will receive a firm offer, which will have taken into account both the options available and your preferences.

All apartments are fully furnished and equipped with bedding, towels, dishes, cooking utensils, microwave, washing machine and dryer, and internet (LAN or WLAN, depending on the house). Eligibility:

  • Sophomore standing
  • Business MBA students only
  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
