Overview:

Founded in 1882 at the heart of Tokyo, Waseda University is recognized as one of the most international universities in Japan. From 2014, Waseda started a four-week summer session at the undergraduate level. The university welcomed highly motivated international students from 70 universities in 13 different countries and regions around the world in 2017. Academic Details:

You can take part in courses that cover a variety of interests, including business, culture, economics, history, literature and art, politics, and sociology in the context of Japan and Asia. The courses are taught in English by experienced faculty members from Waseda and visiting professors from the top global universities. Japanese language courses are optional. Housing Details:

Waseda reserves rooms for Summer Session students at several different locations. They offer two types of accommodation. Male students must select their preferred accommodation upon application and cannot change that accommodation preference after the online application is submitted. All students are assigned a single room. Waseda Summer Session Office will assign rooms to students on a first-come, first-serve basis after payment is received.

The apartment-type accommodation provides sheets, blankets, and pillows ast check in, but students need to bring their own towels. There is a mini kitchen in each room, and utensils can be borrowed upon request. Both males and females can live in this accommodation. No meals are included. This accommodation typically includes free Internet access via Wi-Fi, utilities, TV, and private bathrooms.

The dormitory accommodation consists solely of the Wakejiku dormitory. Wakeijiku is a male-only dormitory, located 10 minutes by walk from Waseda campus. Students will stay in a single room with bed, desk, and chair and use common the cafeteria, kitchen, bathroom, and lounge. Breakfast and dinner are included. Please read the “Wakeijuku admission guidelines” carefully. This type of accommodation does not include Wi-Fi, but wired Internet access is available. Also, students use a Japanese-style shared bath only; no private shower booths are offered. Only male students are allowed to apply for the dormitory. (Source: Waseda University Summer Program Website).

  • Sophomore standing
  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
