Overview:

Tohoku University is a leading research and educational institution in Japan, as well as internationally. The Engineering Summer Program lasts for 2 weeks in July and August. The program will cover topics in the fields of Robotics, Electric and Electronic Engineering, Structural Materials Engineering,  and Bio-Materials Engineering. The program is designed to inspire students through a combination of lectures and hands-on activities on advanced subjects in the field. Students will also have activities within the program that give them the opportunity to engage with Japanese culture. All classes are taught in English.

Academic Details:

The program consists mainly of lectures and hands-on activities, and is supplemented with Lab visits, Japanese Culture programs such as Kimono dressing, Tea Ceremony, and Japanese Hour, as well as a Field Trip in the Tohoku Region. Upon completion of the program, the University will issue students a certificate of Completion, and students should be able to receive 4 ECTS (credits may transfer differently depending on the university).

Housing Details:

The University does not provide accommodation for students studying less than 3 months, therefore students are required to find their own accommodation at  private apartment or hotel. They do however recommend Hostel Kiko for students wanting to find safe, affordable accommodation for their stay.
