Thammasat University – Thai Studies Summer Program

Overview:

Thammasat University is the second oldest university in Thailand. The Thai Studies program is conducted at the Pridi Banomyong Campus. Courses are in English and emphasize current issues, interaction among instructors, and field trips. Overall, it is an interdisciplinary program designed for students interested in Thai culture, language, and historical and contemporary issues. Academic Details:

Summer courses are taught in English over the course of 5 weeks and include Society & Culture of Thailand and Buddhism in Thailand. There are also workshops available such as Thai Dance, Thai Cuisine, Thai Massage, and Thai Traditional Medicine. Organized field trips within Bangkok, and other locations such as Ayuddhaya, Grand Palace, Old Bangkkok, and Chiang Mai, are also included in Summer Session. Housing Details:

Housing is not included in the cost of tuition, but it is available in nearby campus residences (dorms). Students can pay for housing upon check-in or off-campus housing can be self-arranged. (Source: Summer at Thammasat University “Housing” 2018)

Eligibility:

  • Sophomore standing
  • 2.5 minimum GPA
