Overview:

Sookmyung Women’s University is Korea’s first national private women’s school. With over 100,000 alumni and 13,000 current students, SMU has built a global network over its 112 year history. Located in the center of Seoul, the university puts students at the heart of South Korea’s capital city. Students are surrounded by culture, history, and shopping, as well as a wealth of career and academic opportunities, like the Department of Entrepreneurship. Study anything from global entrepreneurship to piano to culture and tourism in this unique setting with some of the top individuals in their fields. Both male and female students are eligible to apply.

Academic Details:

SMU offers up to 150 courses in English through its undergraduate and graduate programs. Students can choose a variety of courses, such as Korean language, International Studies, Korean Studies, and Business and Economics. There are also many opportunities to experience traditional Korean culture on and off campus through lectures and field trips. LCB Hospitality Management and Graduate School of Professional Studies courses are not open for exchange students. If you are a Fine Arts major, or would like to take courses in Fine Arts, Music, and Dance, please request that the MIX Office contacts these departments for a prerequisite check.

Housing Details:

Sookmyung offers a wide range of dormitories to accommodate domestic and international students. There is housing offered to both male and female exchange students. There is a curfew for the dorms between 12:00AM – 5:00AM, and students are not allowed to enter or leave during this period. SMU recommends staying at the UR Seoul off campus if you do not wish to stay in the dormitory. This housing option does not have a curfew.

Eligibility:

  • Sophomore standing
  • 2.75 cumulative GPA
