COVID-19 Advisory

2/28/22

Due to the ongoing pandemic, our in-person field trip procedures have changed. However, you can still connect with us in a variety of ways.

  • We are continuing to offer our digital resource bundles, a way to bring some of our field trip programs into your own classroom–whether that classroom is in person or virtual. Digital resources bundles can be purchased from us directly.
  • We have a collection of free virtual resources from around the web.
  • If you are interested in in person visits, please read the section below! At the time of writing, we ARE accepting in-person visit requests.

We can be reached by phone at (808) 899-0461 or by email at educationlyonarboretum@gmail.com. Please understand that we may not be able to accommodate every request, but we will do our best.

We look forward to connecting with you virtually and providing resources for your classroom. We hope everyone in your community is able to stay safe, engaged, and connected. A Hui Hou Kākou… Until we meet again!

Announcement: In-person visits

3/3/22

Yes, we are hosting in-person field trips!
Field trip requests will be decided on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested, please email the Education Department at educationlyonarboretum@gmail.com with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your school or organization’s name and whether you are Title I.
  • A cell phone number where you can be reached
  • A school or office phone number where you can be reached. (If one phone number is better, you can include your preference too)
  • The date(s) that you would like to visit.
  • Preferred arrival and departure time (9 am is the earliest available arrival time).
  • Grade level of your students (or age range).
  • The size of the group you would like to bring. (Note: at the time of posting, we cannot accept groups of more than 22 people per day. If your group is larger than 22, you may have to visit on multiple dates. The 22-person limit includes all instructors, chaperones, and aides. (It also includes our staff, which is why it’s not a round number like 25.)
  • The activities desired. (For example: guided hike, self-guided hike.)
  • Most likely mode of transportation (e.g., school bus, passenger van, car pooling).
  • The topic of study you’d like to cover while you’re here.

If there’s any information you’re not sure about, don’t worry! We’re happy to work together with you to figure out what is feasible, fun, and educational! If you have any questions, please email us or call our office at 808-988-0461. Mahalo!

If you have any topics or other ideas for improvement, we welcome them. You can email us your feedback at educationlyonarboretum@gmail.com
