1st Grade Digital Resources Bundle now available
October 14, 2020
The Lyon Arboretum Education Department is pleased to announce that our new Sort It Out Digital Resources Bundle is available. “Sort It Out” is our Grade 1 field trip, which explores the concept of trait variation in plants. The digital bundle is a way to bring our ti leaf traits activity into your classroom, whether it’s in person or online. Students will practice recognizing similarities and differences using a familiar, local plant: ti!
For more information, check out the Sort It Out Digital Resources Bundle page. Mahalo nui loa to all our teachers for their work with our keiki!

Until further notice, in-person field trips are suspended, but we are hoping to accommodate small groups later in the year as the situation develops. We will be offering virtual resources throughout the year. Check this page for updates.
If you would like to receive email updates about in-person field trips and virtual resources, fill out our Google form: Email List – K12 Field Trip Updates – SY 2020-21.
Please feel free to call us with questions, special requests, or suggestions for content: 808-988-0461. We welcome your input! We can also be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please understand that we may not be able to accommodate every request, but we will do our best.
We look forward to connecting with you virtually and providing resources for your classroom. We hope everyone in your community is able to stay safe, engaged, and connected. A Hui Hou Kākou… Until we meet again!
Teacher and Student Resources now available online
Aloha teachers! We are pleased to share our new Teacher and Student Resources page. We have collected a variety of resources from around the web–as well as some from our own office–to share with you. The page is set up so you can navigate by grade level. It is still under development–we will continue to add more resources as we find them–so check back with it from time to time.
If you have any topics or other ideas for improvement, we welcome them. You can email us your feedback at email@example.com
In addition, we are still interested in making videos for teachers and students. We could do a Q&A, a demo, and we’re looking into other ways to offer a virtual tour. (We have already added a virtual tour of our Ethnobotanical Garden that highlights native and canoe plants.) Please let us know your thoughts and preferences!
Thank you for your dedication! Best wishes for you, your loved ones, and your students.
