Lyon Arboretum is excited to be bringing back its Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series!
Feed your mind from the comfort of your own home or office with our Brown Bag Lunch Lectures hosted online via Zoom!
More lectures are being planned, but below is our currently published schedule.
Join us on Wednesday, August 25th at noon via Zoom Webinar for Lyon Arboretum’s Brown Bag Lecture series continuing with Digging Deep: Microbes and Carbon Transformation in Volcanic-Ash Soil.
A warming climate means warming soils and warming the soil should, in theory, increase the rate that microbes can transform soil carbon into greenhouse gasses. Volcanic-ash derived soils, like the tantalus series on which Lyon Arboretum rests, seemed to be the exception to this warming phenomenon. Join Christian Fullmer and Dr. Tai Maaz as they dig deep into the soil data collected at Lyon Arboretum to uncover the reasons behind this unique feature of Hawai’i’s soils.
