Lyon Arboretum is saying a hui hou to our director, Dr. Rakan “Zak” Zahawi as he leaves for his new directorship at the Charles Darwin Foundation in the Galapagos!

As Zak said, “I am very much looking forward to joining CDF and to furthering its legacy of conservation and protection in this iconic archipelago. The Galapagos Islands are unparalleled in the world—unique both for their role in advancing our understanding of evolutionary science and as a place that captures the imagination of anyone interested in the living world around us.”

And while we are sad to see Zak go, the Arboretum will be in the capable hands of Nellie Sugii as Acting Director. Mahalo nui loa for the amazing leadership of the last 3 years and best of luck, Zak!
