The Fall semester 2021 UHM Kennedy Theatre Dance Concert “Sphere” will be co-directed by Peiling Kao and Kara Jhalak Miller. Sphere is about holding our awareness in our realms of embodiment. Innovative creation processes emerge as we explore diverse choreographies and a wide range of dance genres.
The UHM Faculty Sai Bhatawadekar, Peiling Kao, Kara Jhalak Miller, Lorenzo Perillo, Amy Schiffner, and invited choreographers Yukie Shiroma, Peter Rockford Espiritu, and Vicky Holt Takamine will choreograph with the following focuses: Hawaiian, Pacific, Asian, Hip Hop, Contemporary, or Hybrid.
The concert will be live streaming from Kennedy Theatre with full set, music, lighting, and costume design on November 19 & 20 at 7:30pm and Sunday November 21 at 2:00pm.
In-person auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 6:30pm at UHM Dance Studio.

“The priority of the Department to cast all roles in our Kennedy Theatre Mainstage and Earle Ernst Lab Theatre productions from among currently enrolled UHM students; other UH system students, faculty, and staff are also welcome to audition from within the UH system.”
“UHM dance and theatre students are given priority in all casting decisions.”
“Though not the norm, non-UHM dancers may be cast in a dance production if specific skills are required.”
