Emanuel Drechsel becomes Professor Emeritus
Professor Emanuel (Manny) Drechsel has become Professor Emeritus, in recognition of his long-standing meritorious contributions to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Professor Drechsel is known for publications that include Mobilian Jargon: Linguistic and Sociohistorical Aspects of a Native American Pidgin (1997, Oxford University Press), Language Contact in the Early Colonial Pacific (2014, Cambridge University Press) and Wilhelm Von Humboldt and Early American Linguistics: Resources and Inspirations (2024, Cambridge University Press).
