Andrew Cheng publication & seed grant

Andrew Cheng co-authored a chapter with Elise McClay and Henny Yeung in an edited volume entitled “Creak: Theories and Practices of Pulse Phonation”. The chapter is titled “Mothers and Creak” and is about creaky voice (vocal fry) in mothers’ voices when speaking to their children. The volume was published on August 7.

Andrew also received a seed grant from the Center for Korean Studies’ Barbara Kim-Yamashita Faculty Research Award. The grant will go toward a new study planned to investigate the articulations of Korean and English consonants by different categories of bilingual speakers using audio and ultrasound.
