4-1-26 Effie Kokrine Charter School visit

On April 1, 2026 the department welcomed a group of high school students from Effie Kokrine Charter School in Fairbanks, Alaska. The school incorporates Alaska Native Cultural Values into the curriculum, programs and teaching methods; and several of the students have been studying Alaska Native languages. One student introduced herself in her Native language, Denaakk’e, noting that she hopes to pursue a degree in linguistics. The students are on O‘ahu as part of a senior class trip which includes exploring options for their academic future.
