Dubautia laevigata A. Gray

Shurb, erect to occasionally decumbent, up to 2.5 m high, leaves opposite. Diagnostic features of the species include sharply serrate, lustrous, conspicuously areolate-reticulate leaves, and separate receptacular bracts scattered throughout the heads. Flowering apparently occurs mostly from December-August.

This species is found only on Kaua'i, mostly in mesic forests at elevations ranging from about 575-1,250 m. It occurs in sites receiving about 150-375 cm precipitation per year.
