The UH Mānoa Worm Lab participated in the 19th Annual Mauka to Makai Environmental Fair at the Waikiki Aquarium for Earth Week. This was the lab’s first outreach event outside a strictly academic setting, expanding beyond its usual work mentoring undergraduate interns and supporting research experience.
The team created an activity board to help attendees learn about polychaetes, or marine worms, and the different habitats they live in. For many visitors of all ages, it was the first time learning that earthworms have a marine counterpart.
