"Request, Sign, Grab, and Go" Service
The Library has implemented a new “Request, Sign, Grab and Go” service that allows UHM patrons to check out physical library items from Hamilton Library’s collection that are eligible to be borrowed. The service will begin the first day of Summer Session 1, May 26, 2020.
What is eligible to be borrowed?
Circulating physical items may be borrowed if materials are not available online through the library’s electronic resources or through our current access arrangement with HathiTrust. Non-circulating items such as reference, periodical, microform or “Library Use Only” are not eligible to be borrowed.
How does it work?
As a UHM patron or East-West Center affiliate, log into OneSearch and submit a “Request Specific Copy” request for any items you would like to borrow. If the items are eligible to be borrowed, the Library staff will retrieve the item and will check it out to you. Please note, available items that you request will be checked out to your library account in advance.
In 3-4 business days, you will receive a “hold” notification for any eligible items you requested. Those items will be available for pick up the following business day in the library lobby.
Picking up your items
Come to the main entrance of Hamilton Library and show your validated UHM ID to the security guard, grab your items placed on tables by last name. Sign the accompanying printouts to acknowledge pick up, and place the printouts in the designated box. Items not picked up after 10 business days will be removed and checked back in.
All items checked out will be due on August, 15, 2020 or longer depending on your borrowing privileges. You can return items anytime by placing them in the return bin outside Hamilton Library.
For more details on requesting items, please visit the Requesting Library items in OneSearch page.
What if I want to borrow an ineligible item?
If you request an item that is ineligible to be borrowed, the request will be canceled. You may be contacted by a member of the library staff with alternative titles or suggestions.
Faculty requesting materials for online course reserves within copyright guidelines, please visit the course reserves website for more information. We are unable to provide physical course reserves at this time.
Masks are required. Please bring a pen to sign your printouts acknowledging pickup.
